| Appearance |
The first thing an observer will notice about Gawain is his size. The
knight is small, 5 feet 6 or so with a slim build. His deceptive build conceals an above
average wiry strength. Dark haired and green eyed, he is usually silent, deferring to the
others in the group. While it may seem to many that he is a serious young man, those that
look close enough will detect a mischievious twinkle in his eyes that he tries, but
usually fails, to conceal. His almond-shaped eyes and fair skin betrays an elven
background but that is uncertain for he has not yet revealed his story and nobody has yet
to ask him. He typically dress in leathers or light metallic armour. Only rarely does he
dress in the traditional garb of the knights, platemail. Again, it is not know why he
prefers chain to the more protective plate. However, it is known why he prefers the
rapier. His skill with the slim blades hanging at his side is considerable. Over all of
these, and usually concealing them, are clothing of dark, usually black, colours. |
| Occupation |
Unknown. In his typically quiet way, he has never volunteered any
information concerning his past and no one has yet to ask him. |
| Personality |
Gawain is usually very silent, speaking only when the need arises. While
he may seem serious, even prudish, the antics of his new-found friends amuse rather than
anger him. His humour is generally dry and, quite often, is beyond his friends. Calm, even
cold, in a fight, where he hurls spells and rapier feints with equal abandon, he can he
warm and funny when he wants to be. |
| Distinguishing features or habits |
Ever alert for danger, Gawain is usually the first one to react to any
threat to the party, often when his friends are still convulsing on the floor with
laughter at something one of them had said to taunt the enemy. Another paculiarity is the
way his eyes sometimes flash a sudden glowing red. It is unknown why that happens at
present but there are suggestions in various quarters that it only happens when he casts a
spell. Again, the real reason is unconfirmed. |
| Tastes and preferences |
Gawain favours dark garments but has no stated preferrences regarding
food or drink. He is a fair musician, preferring the lute or the violin. His sole pet is a
horse that appears whenever he seems needs it. Some sources claim that this is due to a
figurine that he possess but, like so much about him,
the real reason is unconfirmed. |
| Residence |
None. He is a wandering knight errant. |
| Friends and allies |
New, to the realm of Terrania, he has fallen in with the Warriors of the
Greystone. He is closest aligned to Izarius, who like him is both a fighter and a mage.
The Blackraven mage is a constant source of amusement for Gawain, often saying things that
the more reserved knight would not have said but whole-heartedly agree with. Troy, the
merry irreverent knight, is also a good friend as is the loud and boistrous barbarian,
Thundermare. However, Gawain has problems accepting the so-called leader of the Greystone
Warriors. He considers ex-Duke Orion Falkonar, recently dethroned by Lord Blackthorn of
Blackthorn County, an arrogant, ill-mannered spoilt brat. Certainly, the ex-Duke's
constant self-aggrandization and his constant threats to kill or do grevious bodily harm
to the newly arrived knight bears out this view. Few, if any of the ex-Duke's acts have
endeared him to the wandering knight. The cleric of the party is a silent man. So, silent,
in fact, that Gawain does not even recall ever being introduced to him. As such, Gawain
has no opinion of the cleric, whether good or ill. |
| Enemies |
None. He is too new to the realm to have collected any as yet. [DM's
Note: Not True. Gawain's association with the Greystone warriors have automatically earned
him no less than 3 powerful enemies. This includes Spellfang who still blames him for the
death of her husband Greyblade. The fact that Gawain still carries the rapier of
Spellfang's slain spouse has further fueled her desire to mete the same fate upon Gawain.] |
| Short-term goals |
To find out more about the realm and the people in it. |
| Long-term goals |
Unknown. |
